RACES

All classical technique 42K and 22K races on Saturday with a start time at 10:00 AM at the OO warming building on the Birkie Trail. The 42K Classic is Birkebeiner qualifying race and is sanctioned by USSA. The 5K High School Race starts at 10:15 AM at OO as well.

SEELEY HILLS CLASSIC

CROSS COUNTRY SKI RACE | SEELEY, WI - JANUARY 16, 2010

THE COURSE

Utilizes the American Birkebeiner Ski Trail. The 42K skiers will start at the OO building, go north on the new Birkie Classic Trail and return on the Birkie Trail to OO. They will cross OO and go south 11K to the turnaround and return north to the finish at the OO building. Skiers of the 22K race will start at OO building, ski south 11K to the turnaround and head north to finish at OO. Cut-off time will be enforced.

PERKS

First 400 skiers registered to finish the race will receive the new SWIX Classic Ski Hat. Each finisher will receive a bowl of soup and a roll following the race at the Sawmill Saloon in Seeley.

AWARDS

Overall winners of the 42K and 22K races will receive an award. Awards to top two in each age class, male and female 12-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+, plus wood ski class. (Organizers reserve the right to combine categories and classes based on registration.) Awards presentation and raffle prize drawings will be held following the race at the Sawmill Salon.

REGISTRATION AND RAFFLE

Register by mail or in person at the Sawmill Saloon on Friday, January 16 from 5 PM to 9 PM and day of the race from 7 AM to 9 AM. BIB pick up will be at this time. Raffle tickets for skis, merchandise and miscellaneous can be purchased during registration and during the day Saturday.

The cost is $50 and all proceeds go to the CXC Team Vertical Limit women to cover training and racing expenses in 2010.

SEELEY SKI CLUB FUNDRASER

The Seeley Hills Classic is the major fundraiser for the Seeley Hills Club and the revenue generated has allowed the club to promote skiing in many ways. The club annually supports ski clinics in conjunction with the American Birkebeiner and the USSA. The club was responsible for lighting the Birkie Trail at the OO area. The club has also developed a new 15K Sawyer County Ski Trail in Seeley which it maintains and grooms, and has purchased grooming and moving equipment for use on those trails.
